It’s far more relaxed than one could imagine for a place serving meticulously portioned caviar and uni atop oysters. Not only do people stop here midgame they visit without playing at all. The “Back Porch” within reach of holes 12 and 16 is a full restaurant. Accessible from the third and sixth hole, the “Front Porch” offers, among other options, an ornate Bloody Mary bar for adults and an ice cream maker for children. Silo Ridge encompasses 850 acres, with an adjacent 500 acres placed into conservation as part of the North American Land Trust. Values diverge from the buttoned-up rulebooks that typify country clubs. This vision incorporates unheard-of amenities that aim to please each member of the family. An even more impressive outpost will be built in the near future as part of a master plan by Discovery Land Company founder and CEO Mike Meldman along with Pedro Torres of Silo Ridge co-developer Stoneleaf Partners. Right now, Ridge House-with its polished “terrain-to-table” menu by chef Jonathan Wright-acts as a temporary clubhouse. Views stretch through Dutchess County, the Hudson Valley, and neighboring Berkshire Mountains, with wooded valleys and slopes between.
From this rustic restaurant’s porch, one can survey much of Silo Ridge Field Club, the ultra-exclusive, members-only community it serves. Ridge House perches on a picturesque hill in Amenia, New York, surrounded by the manicured greens of an 18-hole, Tom Fazio–designed golf course.
